Looking for a beach other than Weston that was easy to reach from Birmingham, I came across Dunraven Bay to the west of Cardiff. Whilst a little further, it is an easy journey from Birmingham and the Glamorgan Heritage Coastline is rocky and dramatic. Cardiff Bay is a great place to wander around, get a bite to eat or a drink with the lovely backdrop of the freshwater manmade bay. A water taxi links the Bay with the Castle in Cardiff city centre, taking you across the Bay to Penarth and then along the River Taff into the city.
Further afield is the Gower Peninsular with beautiful Rhossili Bay, Port Eynon and the Mumbles; a little further to the West lies Pembrokeshire with the delights of jagged rocks sticking up from the golden sands of Marloes Sands and picturesque Stackpole Quay.
