Sydney was our first stop and introduction to Australia, arriving at 6:30am off an overnight flight from San Francisco. We had a nice, easy transfer in a private car from the airport to our city centre hotel, The Crowne Plaza, Darling Harbour.
Our Visit
As we had six nights in Sydney, we were able to get to know the city quite well and enjoyed taking the ferry around the harbour, visiting Manly Beach a couple of times. We also enjoyed wandering around the Opera House and soaking up the atmosphere there – great fun seeing the Mad Dogs & Englishmen person walking around the area with a dog to scare off the seagulls, who would otherwise be quite a nuisance I would imagine with people eating outdoors by the harbourside.
Tours
We did a few tours whilst in Sydney, The Home and Away tour up to North Palm Beach where filming of exterior scenes is done, a bus tour around the city and also a full day tour out from Sydney around the Blue Mountains.
